Light as Art: Jeremy Kay's Resinate Opens at ART+ for Vivid Sydney

If you've ever wanted to live inside a piece of art, Jeremy Kay's new exhibition Resinate at ART+ Gallery in Sydney's Potts Point is about the closest you'll get.

Opening this week as part of Vivid Sydney, the exhibition transforms the Macleay Street gallery into a glowing, shifting landscape of resin and light. Kay, a Byron Bay-based contemporary artist, has built his practice around resin — not as a coating or finish, but as the work itself. Each piece is built up through layers, creating depth, luminosity and a quality that changes depending on how the light hits it. The effect is somewhere between sculpture and atmosphere.

The opening night leaned into that energy fully — two international DJs, Lady Bug and Bella Backe, on the decks, catering from acclaimed Sydney restaurant Franca, and a gallery space so transformed it barely resembled itself. It was the kind of night that reminds you art and nightlife aren't mutually exclusive.

The Works

Kay's pieces come in two formats: square works from $4,000 AUD and round works from $12,500 AUD. Each is handcrafted, layered by hand, and built to be lived with — equally at home in a private collection, an interior space, or an architectural setting.
