The journey of Tsiknaris Hair is a masterclass in family synergy. With over 100 years of combined experience under one roof, Bill, Chris, Dimitri, and Shae have built a global reputation while remaining firmly rooted in their Brisbane home.

Bill Tsiknaris: The Visionary

For Bill, the journey that began in 1994 has always been about more than awards. "The thing that has stayed true is our commitment and consistency," he reflects. Despite reaching the top of the industry internationally, he finds his greatest reward in mentoring his siblings and seeing them succeed on the global stage.

To Bill, the constant pursuit of awards isn't about validation, but about discipline. "The awards are very much about... something to give you a deadline to keep in touch and keep up to date," he explains. "When we’re not successful, we probably learn the most". When a new client sits in his chair, he avoids the "bullshit," opting instead for an honest conversation about what is realistically achievable for their hair texture and lifestyle.

Chris Tsiknaris: The Maestro of Colour

Chris, often called the "Maestro of Colour," sees every new client as an opportunity to showcase the Tsiknaris standard. For Chris, excellence is built on practice. "Everything that we do at Tsiknaris Hair is practised and with looking to achieve excellence," he says.

Working in a family environment provides a unique shorthand that keeps the creative spark alive. "Working with my brothers... we all find a common ground and we help each other," Chris shares. His goal is to provide "signature colour styles" that are not only fashion-forward but also easy for the client to manage and maintain at home.

Dimitri Tsiknaris: The Precision Specialist

Known for his incredible precision with cutting and straightening, Dimitri finds his "flow" in the buzz of a busy salon. For him, the work is about providing a "new lease on life" for clients who have struggled with unmanageable hair.

Dimitri’s expertise often extends into deeply personal territory. He recalls the emotional weight of helping clients transition to short hair after a cancer diagnosis. "Being reassuring for them and adding comfort to such a hard time... that can be very emotional," he says. Whether it’s a high-fashion trend or a practical necessity, his focus remains on finding the "happy medium" between runway style and home manageability.

Shae Tsiknaris: The Heart of the Salon

A three-time Master Cutter of the Year, Shae is the self-described perfectionist of the family. "I just want to be known as that hairdresser that cares and listens," she says, driven by a deep empathy for her clients.

Shae believes that true trust is built through honesty, even if it means telling a client what won't work. "To actually have the confidence to tell a client that they can't have everything... that is gold," she explains. For Shae, the salon is a place of fun and laughter, where she treats every appointment like a catch-up with a long-time friend.
