W Brisbane Just Gave the City Its Most Intimate Night Out

Phillipe Blake· Chief Editor2 June 2026

There is a version of a night out that doesn't involve a crowded bar, a DJ you can't hear over, or the reflexive reach for your phone every seven minutes. W Brisbane has just built a room specifically for that version.

The Listening Lounge — W Brisbane's newly launched private vinyl bar — transforms what was formerly a retail space inside the hotel into something genuinely rare: an intimate, analogue experience designed for groups who want to actually be present with each other. No cover charge energy, no transactional service, no noise competition. Just a room, a record player, and a martini button.

That last detail is real. The Listening Lounge introduces Brisbane's first Press for Martini button — a single, satisfying solution to the only interruption worth having during a good side of vinyl.

The Space

The room holds up to 18 guests cocktail-style, or 12 seated, making it the right size for a birthday, a private dinner, a work event with actual personality, or simply a small group of people who take music seriously. A collection of 100 records is available for guests to choose from, or you can hand things over to W Brisbane's Music Curator, who builds bespoke playlists tailored to the group. The sound comes through a state-of-the-art Adam Sound speaker system — the kind of setup that makes the difference between hearing music and feeling it.

The concept is anchored by what W Brisbane calls an Experience Host — a personal concierge for the space who manages the atmosphere, the vinyl, and the flow of the evening. It's a deliberate move away from transactional hospitality toward something more considered. Guests are actively encouraged to lock their phones away. Whether you take that as a suggestion or a gift is up to you.

The Menu

The food leans into elevated comfort food territory that suits the room — Oscietra caviar blinis, truffled wagyu sausage rolls, soul food with a luxury edit. The cocktail menu is built around martini aficionados, which makes sense given the dedicated summoning button. There's no minimum spend, but food and beverages must be ordered, and groups must be a minimum of four.

The Details

W Brisbane describes the Listening Lounge as a direct response to what travellers — and locals — are increasingly looking for: immersive, emotionally-driven experiences that prioritise atmosphere and connection over conventional nightlife. In a city that has spent the last few years building a genuine hospitality identity, it's a compelling addition.

The Listening Lounge is available for private bookings only, Thursday to Sunday, 4pm to midnight.
